SIA has made the first Saturday in March their official Day of Service. Clubs within our federation are encouraged to do a hands on project on this day.
Our Club started our Day of Service project in 2007. We saw a need in our community to provide women and children in our local shelters with a pair of new pajamas. To date we have given out over 2,500 pair of PJ's along with toiletry items.
Our members simply collect new pajamas throughout the year, taking donations from friends, family and businesses. If you'd like to donate just let us know below. A special "Thank You" to Warner Brothers for supporting our drive by providing PJ's for the kids in our shelters.
On the first Saturday of March we gather for a potluck brunch and packaging party. We encourage everyone to wear their PJ's making it more fun!
This is a very simple way to help women in our community who have found themselves in a difficult place. We have learned that this little act of kindness makes a real difference in the lives we touch. We also place a note in each bag letting the women in our shelters know that they are not forgotten and that we support them.
